If you have ever had to wait a month or more for a court reporter to transcribe
an important trial, deposition or hearing, you need
Fantastic Transcripts.
We can turnaround your transcript usually in a week, and sometimes in just
a few days.
We can also certify your transcripts if you provide us with court-sealed
tapes. If the tapes are not sealed, we will certify we transcribed what was
provided to us and that we did not alter the tapes in any way. (If we are
called to testify on behalf of our transcripts, however, you will be responsible
for all travel costs and a daily stipend.)
We guarantee a high level of accuracy since we use proofreaders to go over
each transcript on a "second pass" that eliminates most inaudibles and
clears up any misheard words and phrases.
Our rates are $34 per hour of work. We do not
charge by the page, line or the word. We can provide estimates based on typical
audio quality. An hour-long, typical four-track courtroom tape costs
approximately $238 (because of less than optimum
audio) to transcribe. An hour-long, closed-door, conference room hearing usually
costs about $221. Actual cost depends on the
audio quality of the tapes.
We can transcribe in any legal format you require. Different areas of the
country and different courts have slightly different formats. Enclose a sample
of the kind of format the court requires and we will duplicate that. Otherwise
we will transcribe in our standard legal format.
All legal transcripts we do are issued a certification explaining to the
court how the tapes were received and how the transcription was accomplished.
We require a valid credit card number to charge the work to at the time of
completion. We will also accept a bank cheque as advance payment with the
material. We will not release any transcripts without payment. We do not
accept purchase orders, and we do not invoice due to the trouble we have
had in collecting from people in the past.
